HALO INSTALLATION PAGE

Hello,

    I'd like to take the opportunity to thank you once again for purchasing my Halo-style kit!

With this website I plan to lay out, step by step, the necessary instructions to install the kit that you have just purchased onto your Mitsubishi Lancer.  Just follow the easy steps and in a little while you'll have yourself a very unique mod that'll turn heads and stump other car nuts!

You'll notice that you have two resistors that came in a separate bag.  Do not be alarmed.  I will instruct you on how to install these.

Materials needed :

Super Glue (preferably Krazy Glue Advanced Formula)

Drill with 1/4" bit

Electrical tape

Wire Cutters or Scissors

Step 1

Follow the DIY Blackout Headlights by stdreamy HERE.  I highly recommend that you black out your headlights now or have them already done before installing your halos.  Without the blacking, your halos would be washed out by all the ambient lighting coming off of the chrome housing.

Step 2

Once the headlight housing is apart, take the clear turn indicator lens and wash it in a warm water/ detergent mix.  Dry.

Step 3

Make note of which end of the lens is the top and the bottom.  Position the halo over the lens and mark it where you're satisfied of it's fitment.  Since I ran the wires through the inner corner of the headlight, I positioned the gap along the lower/inside of the lens.  It's really up to you as to where you want the gap to go.

Once you are satisfied with everything, apply the super glue to the back of the halo ( ridged part ) and press it firmly against the lens for 15 seconds.

Step 4

Now It's time to make some holes!  The first hole that you are going to make is in the (hopefully) blacked out housing.  I made my hole in the inner corner of it since it is in my opinion, the best place for the wires to run.

The next hole in in the back part of the headlight housing.  Make sure to line it up with the first hole otherwise it'll be a pain to run the wires.

Step 5

Take your wires and run them through both holes before putting everything together.  It's easier to thread the wires through one at a time.  Make sure not to take off the red tape from the positive wire or make note of which is which first.

Put lens with newly attached halo back into housing.

Screw housing onto backing.

STEP 6

Take a small gob of glue from the headlight lining and press it in between the wires and the hole in the outer headlight backing.  This will prevent moisture from entering your headlights via the hole you just made.

Step 7

Place the front headlight cover on and place in the oven as the DIY instructions indicate (4min @ 275).  No longer is needed as you are just trying to get the glue warm enough to seal the headlight back up.

Take out of oven and press firmly around edges to ensure a good seal.

Step 8

Now take one resistor from the bag and attach it to your positive wire via splicing the wire in half or just attaching it to the end.

Find your parking lights wires (wires that connect to your outer corner light) and carefully remove a small bit of each wire's sleeve.  Connect the halo wires to the appropriate parking light wires.

Red = Positive

Black= Negative

 **I didn't attach the resistors as I didn't know what route you may take your wires through, thus risking breaking the weak pieces of metal.  You want to make sure that your resistor is outside the headlight due to it being the weakest part of the circuit and more likely to fail than the LED's.**

step 9

Tape up your uncovered connections and place back into car.  Connect all the lights and turn on parking lights to test. If all goes well,  head on to the second light!!
